I recently recieved a DVD with 3 Tribe videos. John was nice enough to send me a couple copies. I am trying to figure out how I can upload them to YouTube.com so I can link them up to the video page. I will be putting up some screen captures I made from the videos. I have the videos for "Joyride" & "Supercollider" and their performance on Conan O'Brien. Thanks to John the quality is incredible. You almost can't tell that they where transfered from a video tape. I just got a few copies made. I will be sending copies out to the band soon. If someone would like to upload the videos for me to YouTube.com e-mail me.

Sweeet! I can help you Steve. Do you have the videos in file format? I have a Youtube account that I could upload them with but i'd need the files.

I'm hoping someone can extract a file from the DVD's I have and compress it so that the quality is better than what is up on YouTube. In the meantime though I will link that one up to the Video Page.

This is like getting a Christmas gift early! It's always difficult trying to explain to people who never got to see Tribe just how captivating Janet LaValley was live....I've seen a lot of performers over the years and I can't think of anyone else that approaches her stage presence. Having videos of the band performing really is a gift ...many thanks to all involved in making these public.

Thanks to Jon for pointing out that someone has uploaded the Supercollider video to YouTube.com. You can see it here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5L3DCti9upoOr you can go to the Video Page. It is great that people are finally getting to see these videos.

Grrr. I've never seen the videos, and was quite excited until I got the dreaded "this video is no longer available" message. Please explain to me the value of YouTube if anything you *want* to watch is always taken down?
Anyway, I took a camcorder to the hatch shell show, and I'm pretty sure I've got the tape lying around someplace. Will the ~15 year old 8mm tape still play? Does my ~19 year old camcorder still work? Do I trust my 15yo tape to my 19yo camcorder?
I'd pop the tape in a pro deck, but I suspect the stereo audio format Sony used was fairly proprietary to this camera. I could be wrong -- don't know much about 8mm, but I'd like to get the highest quality audio out of it, even if the video might completely suck. If memory recalls, it was raining a little that day, and I was nervous about getting the camera wet (also only had a "monopod" for stability). I'm not holding my breath, but I'll try to dig it up soon and digitize it.

Hey there, I've been lurking here for a bit and finally got off my butt long enough to create an account.
I gotta sympathize with jeffd... Youtube removed the Joyride video. I had been displaying it proudly on my myspace page, but no more.... Any way I could get my hands on it? I'd be willing to host it, assuming that doesn't infringe on anybody's rights or anything.
Great video. The visuals are a bit dated but the music more than stands the test of time.

I remember seeing the Conan appearance & knowing I had to buy the CD the very next day. So, how could I get a copy of these? I can pay or trade or whatever. I can duplicate a large quantity with full color art and send them back to you. That way, when fans like me ask, you can just throw one in the mail. How about if I say "pretty please"?
Thanks, divineelectric@yahoo.com 5840 Spring Valley Road #412 Dallas, TX 75254

I am making an offer of a free Tribe DVD to anyone who can rip the videos from it and compress them so that I can host them on this website. Rather than upload them to YouTube again only to be taken down because it is copyrighted material. We have permission from the band to share pretty much anything we want. I am against sharing Abort & Sleeper files though. There are plenty of copies out there you just have to look for them. Tribe - Abort on AmazonTribe - Sleeper on Amazon

If it's still available, I'd be happy to do it -- just send me an email to the address I put in my forum registration and I'll send you my mailing address. We can discuss file formats and all, but my initial thought is something like h.264, which could be played on a video ipod as well as a Mac or PC.

I don't know how or why I ended up here, but I am soooo psyched! Thanks ever so much for putting these sites up and all the MP3s. Recently I have been reliving my 20s and 30s in music and Tribe was one of my very favorite bands back then. Boston music was HOT HOT HOT and it was a great fun time to be there.
I'm in the land of sunshine and bad cover bands now - Tampa Bay - but if there is ever a Tribe reunion, I will be on a plane!
Thanks again. This is great fun!

I will be making all of the Tribe videos that I have available for download later on today. I have better quality versions of Joyride and Supercollider than the ones that where on YouTube. I also have their appearance on Conan O'Brien. The files are around 50 mb's each. You won't be able to stream them you have to download them.
I recently got a new computer. This weekend I was able to make WMV's from my DVD.

Thanks for the update, Steve, and to John for hooking you up. I've posted an update about these videos at TTLG.com. Now the videos are on my hard drive, next it'll be a CD-R.
