I have seen those sites in the past when I have done some searching myself for information on Janet's album. It is a real shame the album never came out. Columbia Records made a big mistake. It is kind of interesting how many Boston area bands got screwed over by major labels back in the 90’s. It is too bad that labels don’t encourage artists to grow like they used to. If they would just let the artists find their niche the money would come. All they are interested in these days is making a quick buck. I saw Janet solo many times. She always put on a great show. Her guitarist Norm and her had really good chemistry on stage. They also were writing partners. They had some great songs that rocked live. I always wanted to hear what they sounded like in the studio. Janet would have gotten more recognition for her writing skills if the album had been released back then in my opinion. Most people feel that Janet was just the singer in Tribe. Eric, Terri & Greg did most of the writing in Tribe. Her solo album would have changed everyone’s minds. It is my hope that someday someone convinces Janet to put those recording out even if it is on some small indie label. So many people have asked me if I have a copy of it. I am sure they would at least make their money back. Lots of people have been waiting for years to hear what that record sounds like. Maybe Janet dosen't own the masters, and that is the reason it was never released.

Steve Interesting thoughts on Janet - I agree that was the perception that she wasn't a particularly accomplished songwriter - I think she was a better one than people gave her credit. I just found the style of her solo career to be a curious choice - it was so different from Tribe. I am not sure she positioned herself optimally. Thanks for putting this website together - it is very gratifying to see other fans are still interested in talking about Tribe. I hope the reunion comes together but I just wonder how that happens with the very limited contact the band members seem to have had with Janet over the years.
